CATHAY PACIFIC'S CAMPUS VISIT

Where there is Excellence, There are Opportunities

Officials from the prestigious airline company, Cathay Pacific, made a day visit last July 4, 2024. The visit was primarily made to conduct a “Career Talk” to the graduating students and participating alumni of the College. Afterward, a job interview was conducted, giving applicants an opportunity to introduce themselves to one of the largest commercial airline companies in Asia.

The team of Cathay Pacific was warmly welcomed by PATTS College Officials - Engr. Jose Eduardo S. Vladez (President and COO), Atty. Anna Katrina V. Cruz (VP for Administrative Affairs), and Dr. Emelita I. Javier (VP for Student Affairs). Visitors and participating students for the event headed straight to the Audio-Visual Room (AVR) for a “Career Talk” symposium. Here, Engr. Valdez opened the floor and gave his welcome remarks, where he acknowledged Cathay’s enthusiastic visit. Moreover, he also took the time to acknowledge the rapid boost of the aviation industry in the present time due to the integration of technology. He also added that PATTS’ use of modern technology is key to its unending excellence in the field. With over a thousand graduates and professionals successfully contributing to the aviation industry, Engr. Valdez expressed his certainty that Cathay will be able to find its next engineers and hardworking staff in the institution.

Following this, the team from Cathay Pacific - comprised of Mr. Vishnu Rajendran (Country Manager - Philippines), Ms. Sharon Yick (Regional Talen Acquisition and Performance Manager), Ms. Gracy Alba (People Lead - Philippines), and Mr. Dominic Yeo (Engineering Manager), took the stage to introduce the career opportunities that they offer. Mr. Rajendran started the symposium by addressing his appreciation to all the participating students and college officials who made time for their visit. Following this, Ms. Alba then presented a short recap on the company’s history and how it managed to become one of the growing and leading airline companies in Asia. She also added that its plan to establish a bigger network in the Philippines is part of its expansion to accommodate the rapid growth and demand for commercial aviation. She then introduced Cathay’s “Engineering Graduate Trainee Program,” a special program designed by the company to produce qualified Aircraft Engineers that can help sustain its fleet and demand for maintenance and repair in the aviation industry. Mr. Yeo then continued the discussion, highlighting the three-year training program that Cathay has prepared to assist fresh graduates and aspiring Aircraft Engineers. Mr. Yeo also discussed the four “streams,” in which graduates of their training program can build their aviation careers - particularly in its Technical Stream, Maintenance Planning Stream, Inventory Management Stream, and Operational Stream.

After the discussion, the floor was opened for questions, where students and alumni got the chance to send their inquiries on the processes of Cathay’s training program. Following the symposium, the airline company headed straight to the Review Room to accommodate applicants for interviews. Through this extraordinary tie-up, PATTSeans have a window of opportunity to head start their aviation career. This momentous occasion is indeed a testament to PATTS’ commitment to bringing students closer to their dreams and establishing itself as one of the leading aviation colleges in the nation.
