MUSIC FEST 2024

Tara Kanta? Retro Ride Festival

Jumping to the rhythm of OPM songs and singing one’s heart out have become a yearly tradition to most PATTSeans as part of the culmination of the institution’s founding anniversary. Without a doubt, the Music Fest is one of the most awaited student-led events every year. As PATTS marks its 55th year of empowering aviation education, this year’s lineup of guest performers is one of a kind. On the 15th of March 2024, the A.R. Valdez Hall lit up the night as PATTSeans sang along to the iconic songs and unforgettable performances of Alisson Shore, Just Hush, Autotelic, and Itchyworms!

The Music Fest 2024 features the theme Retro Ride Festival. Apart from hosting a concert for students to jive with and enjoy, this year’s event stands out as it also features a motor show. Vintage and especially designed cars parked at the Open Basketball Court brought amusement to all concertgoers. Vehicles such as post-war jeepneys, vintage Mustangs, iconic box-type cars, and the luxurious Toyota 86 fed everyone’s eyes as they lined up to enter the A.R. Valdez Hall. The event started with the enthralling opening act of the Piston Heads, the homegrown rock band of the BS AMT Department and the champion of the 2023 Battle of the Bands. Shortly after their performance, the R&B and Filipino Hip Hop Icon, Alisson Shore stepped on the stage opening his act with his bittersweet song, “Violet.” PATTSeans sang along with his tongue-twisting rap songs and danced throughout his performance. Alisson then expresses his delight with the warm welcome the PATTS Community showed and ends his performance with his iconic hit, “Hanggang Sa Huli” with over 34 million streams on Spotify.

Autotelic, an indie-OPM Band, and the men behind the Filipino Rock songs “Laro” and “Takipsilim,” then took over the stage. PATTSeans immediately welcome them with loud cheers on their sound check, even before they start their act. The band rocked the venue as PATTSeans jumped along with their songs. The audience was also surprised as they covered Rivermaya’s hit track, “Himala.” The hype does not stop there as Itchyworms keep the energy up with their opening song, “Gusto ko Lamang sa Buhay.” The band with their lead singer Jugs Jugueta also sends their best wishes to PATTS as it celebrates its 55th founding anniversary. Moreover, Jugs gave words of encouragement to all students to pursue their dreams as aviators and never let a setback bring them down. The night got even more fun as Jugs went down the stage and shook hands with the audience! It surely is a night to remember those who got to meet the man behind the iconic OPM songs they grew up with!

For the closing performance, rising R&B star, Just Hush, dominated the stage with his sick beats and top streamed songs. Despite the warm temperature inside the venue, his cold voice resonated and struck the audience! As he sang his hit song, “Maikee's Letters,” the gymnasium shined with a sea of lights as the audience opened their flashlights while singing along. The night eventually concluded as Just Hush sang his final song, “Co-pilot.” PATTSeans went home not only with a last song syndrome but with hearts filled with happiness and memories that they will treasure forever!
