LENDING A HELPING HAND

Project MD: Aviators at Work

PATTS College of Aeronautics is steadfast in its commitment to helping its partnered communities live a sustainable life. With this, the Aeronautical Engineering Research Organization (AERO), along with the Airline Business Administration Society (ABASoc), PATTS Red Cross Youth Council (RCYC), and the PATTS G17 University Ambassadors Consortium Representatives made its fourth visit to Barangay Kaybagal South in the city of Tagaytay last April 27, 2024 for the “Project MD: Aviators at Help.”

Project MD is a community extension project initially pioneered by AERO, ABASoc, and RCYC, in collaboration with PATTS’ Social Orientation and Community Involvement Office. It was launched last 2022, and since then continuously made its quarterly visit to PATTS’ adopted communities. In their visit this year, they have teamed up with the G17 University Consortium to help amplify the call for good health and well-being, which is one of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. With this, free medical consultations were made available to the citizens of Barangay Kaybagal South through the aid of the institution’s partnered volunteer doctors - Dra. Victoria Angela V. Cacdac, Dra. Alyssa Mae S. Utanes, Dr. Antonio L. Calderon Jr. and Dra. Ghia Escaño. Moreover, beneficiaries were also given free medicinal care that they needed, including vitamins for kids and adults. Dental procedures, including tooth extraction and fluoride treatment, were also made available through the volunteerism efforts of Parañaque Dental Chapters, Inc. (PDCI).

Apart from free medical and dental consultations, a lecture on proper dental hygiene was also conducted by Dra. Lana Marie Sullano (Volunteer from PDCI)  to raise awareness on the importance of taking care of one’s teeth and how they shall be properly cleaned. It was then followed by a short presentation by Dra. Victoria Angela Cacdac, discussing how the elderly can mitigate and prevent hypertension.

Overall, the project was indeed a success. It was a small step in helping the community of Barangay Kaybagal South overcome the daily health challenges that they face and live a sustainable and healthy life.
