WINGS OF TOMORROW
PATTSalubong & College Month 2024
A new chapter unfolds as freshmen embark on a journey where dreams take flight. On August 6, 2024, PATTS College of Aeronautics hosted its annual PATTSalubong, an event dedicated to warmly welcoming the newest members of the community into their new home.
With the theme of “The Elemental Odyssey: A Quest for Aviation Excellence”, the various Program-Oriented Organizations proudly participated in the welcoming march, including representatives from BS Aeronautical Engineering, BS Aircraft Maintenance Technology, BS Industrial Engineering, BS Air Transportation, BS Tourism Management, BS Avionics Technology, BS Airline Business Administration, and the Aircraft Technician Course. The parade commenced from the Dela Cruz Compound, with participants parading towards the PATTS volleyball court for the heart of the event.
Before the program officially began, PATTS Student Council President, Jasper Carl Magalona, delivered the opening remarks. His speech focused on the various college experiences and motivation, aiming to inspire the freshmen as they embark on their new academic journey. He began by stressing the importance of understanding one's deepest motivations and remaining determined in the face of challenges throughout college. He also highlighted the value of personal growth over grades, reminding students that grades do not define their intellectual abilities—even if they receive mediocre or failing marks. He encouraged them to focus on self-improvement and to embrace the college experience, noting that while the journey may be difficult, it prepares students for the industry and that enjoying the learning process is key.
Following his speech, each program was tasked with performing a unique chant to showcase their program’s spirit and competitiveness. Judged by Mr. Levy Jot M. Montilla (Student Affairs Associate), Mr. Melchor T. Mantilla (College Librarian), and Mr. Sebastian M. Manalo (SOCI Associate), the winners were: BS Airline Administration for Best in Costume, BS Aircraft Maintenance Technology for Best Actual Cheer, and BS Aeronautical Engineering for Best Parade.
Another highlight of the event was a discussion on the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing their relevance to the aviation industry and their impact on future generations. To conclude the event, the PATTSalubong ended with a hand-painting activity on the wall, symbolizing the freshmen's first day as PATTSeans and marking the beginning of their journey at the college.
Following PATTSalubong, the College Month 2024 celebration warmly welcomed students to another academic year at PATTS College of Aeronautics. One of the highlights of this annual event was PATTSiklaban 2024, a talent showcase that provided PATTSeans with a platform to exhibit their talents.
On August 12, 2024, the talents of PATTSeans took center stage at PATTSiklaban, a vibrant event held at the PATTS Lobby -- offering an opportunity to express their creativity and showcase their unique abilities. In her opening remarks, Dr. Emelita I. Javier (Vice President for Student Affairs) emphasized the importance of events like PATTSiklaban in giving PATTSeans a chance to shine beyond the classroom. The competition featured representatives from various programs, each aiming to bring pride to their respective organizations.
The talent showcase was judged by Ms. Aizel Buyao (Physical Education Faculty), Mr. Sebastian M. Manalo (SOCI Associate), and Ms. Ronjane Santillan (Natural Sciences Faculty). Mr. Othello Lui Ilagan from BS Air Transportation won the Audience Impact Award, while Ms. Viviene Angeline Mangalindan from BS Tourism Management secured the award for Best Concept. Mr. Ilagan also claimed the top prize for Overall Performance, making him the star of the event.
Another event during College Month was "Ibida mo, PATTSino!", a talent show organized by the PATTS Student Council that showcased the creativity and talents of student leaders from various organizations. Held at the PATTS Lobby on August 14–15, 2024, the event highlighted the diverse abilities of these student leaders as they represented their organizations with pride.
A significant highlight of this year's College Month was Recruitment Week, held simultaneously with other events from August 12 to 16, 2024, at the PATTS Lobby. Recruitment Week is an annual event that promotes student involvement in the institution's recognized Program-Oriented Organizations (POOs), Special Interest Organizations (SIOs), SHS, and Office Organizations. It encourages students from all year levels to become more engaged in the various organizations and to the PATTS culture.
Ultimately, PATTSalubong and College Month 2024 highlighted PATTSeans' festive spirit as they came together to welcome the start of another academic year. The events not only fostered camaraderie and school pride but also provided students with meaningful opportunities to showcase their talents, get involved in campus organizations, and strengthen their sense of community at PATTS College of Aeronautics.
