PATTS SPORTSFEST 2024
Uniform Passion, United in Competition
The season has arrived once more, academic days are about to end, yet there is something PATTSeans are still waiting for – the triumphant display of athleticism and academic spirit. After about a year, the PATTS College of Aeronautics commenced Sportsfest 2024, with this year’s theme “Unified Passion: Fight of the Champions,”. From May 27 to June 1, 2024, students, faculty, and sports enthusiasts were brought together at the PATTS A.R. Valdez Hall, for a week-long celebration of teamwork, competition, and camaraderie.
Donned with colorful uniforms, a vibrant parade of players opened the sportsfest, representing their various programs as they marched with pride and enthusiasm showcasing their program’s identity, setting the tone for the sportsfest.
Angel Canino (UAAP Season 85 MVP, Rookie of the Year, and 2nd Best Open Spiker) filled the enthusiasm of the athletes as the guest of honor electrified the atmosphere as she addressed the crowd, sharing words of inspiration and encouragement as her achievements as a top-tier athlete resonated with the PATTSeans, motivating the participants and entertained the them with her graceful Pantropiko dance.
Adding a touch of glamor, the Ms. Sportsfest pageant reigned, showcasing the beauty, intelligence, and talents of various programs which served as a delightful appetizer from the competitive sports events, allowing the audience to appreciate the multifaceted talents of their program representatives.
Different participation from the PATTS organizations also filled the gymnasium with entertainment and delight. Dance performance from the PATTS Dance Company and The PATTS Royal Cavalry’s chant and cheer then doomed the gymnasium with their resonating beat.
Just like any sports festival, torch run is an indication of the beginning of the competition, as Ms. Aiko Aoyagi and Mr. Geisslher B. Panaligan (team captain of PATTS’ women’s and men’s volleyball team respectively) lit the fire followed by the Oath of Sportsmanship headed by Mr. Patrick Laurent E. Santos (Most Valuable Player).
After the declaration of the opening of the sportsfest by Mr. Benjamin V. Hernandez Jr. (Athletics Director), the ceremonial ball toss headed by Engr. Jose Eduardo S. Valdez (College President and COO) accompanied by Canino and team captains transpired indicating the beginning of the sports journey towards victory.
PATTS Sportsfest 2024 indeed showcased the balanced athletic and academic life of PATTSeans. Although competitions arise inside the court, the camaraderie still reigns in every athlete as the crown of championship was bestowed in each PATTSeans.
