5-PEAT CHAMPIONS

ISAA Men’s Volleyball Championship

The PATTS Men's Volleyball Team has once again proven their sheer dominance as they secured a convincing victory over the Philippine Women's University (PWU) Patriots and a triumphant return to the championship podium in the Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association (ISAA) Season 15 Men's Volleyball Championship Game held on January 26, 2024 at the A.R. Valdez Hall.

With a dominant performance in the winner-take-all Game 3, the Seahorses emerged as the undisputed 5-time champions, marking their comeback as the ISAA volleyball title holder since their momentous 4-peat victorious streak from 2016 to 2019.

However, the road to the championship was not without its challenges. In Game 1, the PATTS Seahorses suffered a surprising defeat in a five-set match against PWU Patriots, leaving them reeling from the loss. Yet, they swiftly rebounded in Game 2 with a remarkable performance, overcoming their initial setback to secure a decisive 22-25, 25-7, 25-20, 25-17 victory. They took advantage of the Patriots' errors and offensive struggles, outscoring them in attacks and capitalizing on service aces. This ultimately led to their victory in Game 2, setting the stage for a thrilling Game 3 showdown.

In the decisive Game 3, the Seahorses commanded the court from start to finish, clinching the championship with a resounding 25-17, 25-19, 25-15 triumph over their opponents. Despite the Patriots' brief threat in the third set, Kristofer Rodge Alejos (2nd Year - BS Aircraft Maintenance Technology) rose, contributing crucial final five points to seal the victory.

Alejos concluded the game with an impressive tally of 19 points, comprising nine blocks and ten successful attacks, the highest in the match. Due to this stellar performance throughout the series, he was honored as the Finals Most Valuable Player, puffing an average of 15.0 points and 6.0 blocks across the three games.

Led by their coach, Mr. Benjamin V. Hernandez Jr. (PATTS Athletics Director), his leadership and strategic direction were instrumental in shaping the team's performance throughout the series and undoubtedly contributed to its success.

Indeed, the PATTS Seahorses represent the spirit of perseverance and excellence that defines the institution. With their focus on spiking to greater heights, they are ready to continue to defend their throne and make a lasting impact in collegiate sports history.
