3rd Philippine Aviation Research Conference 2024
A vibrant exchange of knowledge and innovation marked the 3rd Philippine Aviation Research Conference (PARC) 2024, hosted by PATTS College of Aeronautics, at the Audio-Visual Room last August 10, 2024. Schools nationwide gathered to engage in discussions and presentations centered around aviation research.
The conference commenced with an opening remark from Engr. Jose Eduardo S. Valdez (PATTS College President and COO), who emphasized the importance of collaboration in the aviation field. "As we embark on this journey, I am confident that knowledge shared and connection gained will lead to enhanced competence among the participants," he stated. He urged attendees to embrace, enhance, and innovate for a more sustainable future in aviation.
Mr. Brian Ben C. Coronel, PATTS Research and PACUCOA Affairs Director) and this year's Conference Chairperson, introduced the official guests and participants. Attendees included representatives from FEATI University, Philippine State College of Aeronautics (with campuses in Villamor, San Fernando, Mactan, and Basa Air Base), University of the Philippines - Open University, Air Link International Aviation College, De La Salle University, Aviation Partnership Philippines, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Cebu Indiana Space University, Asian International School of Aeronautics and Technology - Davao, and the host, PATTS College of Aeronautics.
Engr. Joy Cosme G. Amores Jr. (PATTS VP for Academic Affairs) welcomed the keynote speaker, Dr. Marc Caesar R. Talampas, the Director IV of the Space Technology and Missions Systems Bureau. Dr. Talampas provided insights into the Philippine Space Agency, detailing its background, ongoing projects, and future goals for the Philippines. He also introduced the concept of the Space Economy, highlighting its significance in contemporary discussions about aviation and space.
The plenary session featured Assistant Professor Ramsey S. Ferrer, former Dean of the Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the Philippine State College of Aeronautics. Introduced by Dr. Marianne Shalimar G. Del Rosario, Head of the Languages Department and Chairperson of the Research Ethics Committee, Mr. Ferrer delivered an engaging lecture on aviation language and communication.
As the conference progressed, Dr. Ethel Reyes-Chua, Research Director of Air Link International Aviation College, provided vital reminders. Dr. Noel R. Navigar, Research Director of the Philippine State College of Aeronautics, then delivered the closing remarks.
In the afternoon, parallel sessions allowed research presenters to showcase their work. Participants were divided into two groups, faculty and student categories, presenting their research that focused on a broad spectrum of aviation-related topics, including Aviation Education, Community Service and Extension, Communication, Tourism, Logistics, Security and Management, Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Technology, Air Transportation, Avionics Technology, Information Technology and Systems, and Aeronautical Management and Public Administration. This diverse array of topics illustrated the multifaceted nature of the aviation industry and addressed various challenges facing the field.
The conference culminated with an awarding ceremony, recognizing the best paper and best presenters of the conference. PARC 2024 indeed highlighted the commitment of Philippine aviation schools to fostering research and innovation, setting the stage for future collaborations, advancements in the industry, and a future of sustainability.
