GAWAD BAGWIS 2024

In Pursuit of the Wings of Success

The Gawad Bagwis awarding ceremony is an annual tradition that celebrates and recognizes outstanding student achievements and talents, honoring those who leave a lasting mark on their school's history. This year, the prestigious ceremony was held on August 17, 2024, at the Chairman’s Penthouse.

Each year, student leaders and achievers submit their entries for a chance to be recognized and etched into the school’s history. The competition remains fierce, as participants passionately strive to claim the coveted titles.

Among the distinguished guests at the awarding ceremony were Madame Ma. Felisa S. Valdez (Chairman of the Board and CFO), Engr. Jose Eduardo S. Valdez (College President and COO), Atty. Anna Katrina V. Cruz (Board Director and VP for Administrative Affairs), Ms. Ma. Rosa Josefina D. Fresnido (Board Director), Atty. Juan Victor S. Valdez (Corporate Secretary), Dr. Emelita I. Javier (VP for Student Affairs), and Engr. Joy Cosme G. Amores Jr. (VP for Academic Affairs).

The event began with an inspiring speech from Engr. Valdez, who reflected on the rich history of the ceremony and shared the unique story behind the perpetual trophies. These trophies were crafted from a large tree that had fallen during a typhoon, and they now serve as symbols of resilience, carrying the legacy of those honored through Gawad Bagwis.

Following this, Engr. Wilbur Arthur N. Oghayon, Manager of Support Services - NarrowBody Base Maintenance at Lufthansa Technik Philippines, delivered the keynote address. He emphasized three key assets that every student possesses: time, hunger, and freedom. He reminded the audience that students, at the beginning of their careers, have time on their side to explore and take risks. Hunger, he said, drives them to excel, stand out, and prove themselves in their chosen fields. Lastly, he highlighted the freedom students enjoy, unburdened by the heavier commitments of later life, allowing them to experiment, take risks, and seize opportunities without fear of future consequences.

The evening concluded with a celebratory dinner, where the atmosphere was filled with pride and camaraderie. Students, faculty, and honored guests gathered to celebrate not only the winners but all the exceptional individuals who contributed to the institution's legacy of excellence. The Gawad Bagwis ceremony once again underscored the immense potential within each student, inspiring them to continue striving for greatness in their future pursuits.
