A comprehensive discussion of the intricacies of the hydraulic system of A320s transpired last October 21, 2023 at the PATTS Audio Visual Room for the event entitled, “Navigating the A320's Hydraulic System: An Overview and Servicing Seminar,” to prepare the students of BS Aircraft Maintenance Technology for the labor market as they continue to traverse the world of mechanics.
The main goal of this seminar was to provide these aspiring aviation professionals with a thorough comprehension of the complexities involved in the Hydraulic Systems of the Airbus A318 to A321 aircraft. Navigating through the complex network of components, reservoirs, and servicing panels, the event aimed to equip the students with the most up-to-date insights and information necessary for their future positions in aviation maintenance.
The opening of the seminar was preceded by the introductory remarks and the presentation of the event’s objectives, which laid the foundation for awareness and knowledge of the topic. Engr. Kenneth Rene Ian M. Talag (Senior Aircraft Technical Training Instructor of SLA Engineering and Guest Speaker) has extensive expertise on the subject and strongly underlined the crucial importance of Hydraulic Systems in Airbus A318 to A321 aircraft. He emphasized the urgent need for future technicians to understand the changing mechanics in the aviation industry.
He also explained the details of the hydraulic system, classifying the components into three colors - green, blue, and yellow lines. These lines are interconnected with a reservoir to enhance efficiency and remove unnecessary duplication. The discussion also covered information on the accumulator and Nitrogen Pressure Indicator, which serve as safeguards against pressure variations. He also gave extensive explanations of pressurization units and tank drainage for the Seal Drain System. His presentation ended with a thorough examination of environmental precautions, safety warnings, and essential cautions encompassed by AMM protocols, PTU, and RAT.
The peak of this informative seminar lasted for two hours, including an interactive question and answer session, the awarding of certificates, and a closing remark by Paul William Chuawee (Head of Marketing at AAMT). In his concluding statements, he extended his sincere appreciation to Engr. Talag for his invaluable perspectives and to the vibrant group of students whose active involvement enhanced the seminar.
