PATTS' HEART IS WITH TURISMO

Hearts flyin’, souls lovin’, and red shinin’! The PATTS Tourism Society (PTS) fired-up their Valentine-themed kick-off event with hearty talks, competitions, and energizing games on February 19, 2022.

The red hot event entitled, “Let Go and Let Love: The Grand THM Kick-Off Party,” was embraced with inspirational talks by psychology and society professionals and indulged with various gimmicks, games and challenges, and stage-shattering intermission performances of the PTS trainees and officers.

Dr. Mariflor J. Gatchalian, a licensed psychologist and the first speaker of the event, tackled the complex and ever-debatable deep meaning of the word “love.” She expounded on the understanding and success of love and how it can help a person understand his/her emotions without causing an imbalance with passion. She manifested that a person may use love for the continuous growth of passion without losing sight of emotional balance.

“Give 100% love to your partner and 100% love to yourself, there is nothing in half. May forever [there is forever]!” Dr. Gatchalian said.

In the second inspirational talk by PATTS’ very own guru Mr. Angelo Joseph Bautista of the Social Sciences Department, he highlighted love through self, season, and success. The speaker explained the understanding of one’s self and enduring seasons and its correlation to self’s passion towards success. Mr. Bautista said: “Summer must arrive and rain must fall, so be like a tree because they adapt to seasons,” as he tackles that a person’s experience is not the definition of his/her future success but merely adapts to changes with an instilled desire for the goal.

“Don’t judge the totality of your life just by one season. Change is nature, you must adapt. As there is no formula for success, your yesterday does not define your tomorrow,” he added.

The event was also ignited by dance performances of the current PTS officers and soon-to-be officers. Games such as Family Feud and 4 Pics 1 Word were played to further elevate the energy of the participants.

Tiktok challenge and the awaited Mr. and Ms. Valentine’s awarding finally completed the night along with the granting of certificates of recognition to the PTS officers, trainees, and Tourism Management Instructors. Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to Mr. Alvin M. Moralde, PTS Adviser, and to Mr. John Ericson A. Policarpio, Program Chairperson of BS Tourism Management.
