SECOND-HAND EMOTION

PAG-IBIG 101: Mga Dapat Alamin Bago Kiligin

Mr. Philip Manuelson D. Arandia discussing where the feelings of love take place in the brain.

It’s Feb-Ibig Month” [...] again. There may be those who are in a complicated relationship, or those that are single, broken, or taken… taken for granted. But kidding aside, it is love that makes the world go round at the end of the day. This special event entitled, “PAG-IBIG 101: Mga Dapat Alamin Bago Kiligin”, was fulfilled by the Guidance Counseling and Testing Unit (GCTU) and was streamed live via Google Meet Livestream, on the 17th of February 2022.

GCTU introduced a Senior Lecturer of Applied Psychology in UP Diliman-Pampanga Extension and Messiah College, who also provides physiological assessment, and psychological therapy. Mr. Philip Manuelson D. Arandia, RPSY, M.DIV, M.A. is also the Clinical Supervisor of Bloomfields Wellness Institute.

Love vs. In Love”, Mr. Arandia explained the secrets of self-fulfillment through this second-hand emotion called love. Throughout our lifetime, we are going to love so many people — our family, our friends, our partners, even our pets. However, we will only be in love with one person at a time. Through rough waters, we would stand by their side. It is just a matter of accepting stories about their past and uncovering what makes them feel insecure. This is what love is.

When we get nervous when they pass by us and hide the excitement to see them, it’s when we can differentiate what really is love versus being in love. The scripture says “all these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
