LEAN SIX SIGMA EXCELLENCE

Empowering Industrial Engineering Students

The third and fourth-year students of the BS Industrial Engineering Department came together to participate in a transformative training program called the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Training and Certification Program on the 21st of October 2023 at the Drawing Room 2 of PATTS to unlock their full potential and excel more in their college journey.  This program was meticulously developed by prominent Lean Six Sigma experts in the Philippines aligned with the Council for Six Sigma Certifications (CSSC) and the Body of Knowledge (BOK) from the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

This training was mentored by an experienced and skilled industrial engineer, Engr. Felix Veroya. He shared his early experiences with this training program when it was not yet popular, and only financially capable individuals could access it. This is the reason he made a promise to himself that he would grant many more students access to various certifications that he was unable to obtain due to financial constraints.

Engr. Veroya covered Lean Six Sigma basics and its applications. Students formed groups, engaged in collaborative case studies, and shared their findings. They completed E-learning modules, exercises, and quizzes. The pivotal part was a 50-item, internationally accredited, online proctored certification exam, requiring a minimum of 70% score.

In addition to providing students with problem-solving and process-improvement skills necessary for driving operational excellence across a range of industries, the Lean Six Sigma training and certification program offered them a structured framework for identifying and eliminating waste, reducing defects, and boosting overall productivity. This made them highly sought-after professionals in today's competitive labor market.
