BATTLE OF THE BANDS 2023

The stage was set with electrifying music that filled the PATTS Audio Visual Room (AVR), leaving the audience buzzing with anticipation. On the 6th day of October 2023, "Maroon 20: Battle of the Bands 2023" took place in celebration of PATTS Avionics Society’s 20th anniversary. 

Organized by PAVIOS, the event kicked off as the energetic hosts, Ms. Princess Nica C. Nacario and Mr. Robert Andrew S. Nuyda, started the event with enthusiasm and excitement. Mr. John Joseph Co (Project Head and BS AvTech 2nd Year Representative) delivered his inspiring welcome remarks. It was followed by the introduction of the judges led by Ms. Kaye Anne B. Repatacodo (PAVIOS Adviser). The panel consisted of Hon. Alister Mojica, Ms. Marianne M. Bartolome, Mr. Carl M. Makiling, Ms. Eunice C. Rogador, and Capt. Edwin Joseph Equio, all alumni of PATTS. Each evaluated the different performances based on their originality, planning, presentation, quality of performance, and audience impact.

The energy of the crowd continued to rise as the first band took center stage. Each group was given the opportunity to perform two songs, one OPM and one foreign, showcasing their talent and delivering high-energy performances. As the night progressed, the audience’s energy never waned - they cheered for their favorite bands while enjoying a diverse range of musical experiences.

Another highlight of the event was the Lead Guitarist Exhibition and the Drummer Exhibition, where they needed to perform a solo to a music selected by the organizers. The lead guitarist contenders performed to "Disease" by Matchbox 20, while the drummers performed to the song "Ikaw Lamang" by Silent Sanctuary. Each of them displayed their skills with originality and creativity, proving their excellence in their respective fields.

After an intense battle between the bands, the awarding ceremony followed. The Jade Band was crowned as the champion with their mesmerizing performance that captivated the crowd. Jan Yzrael M. Dado was recognized as the Best Lead Guitarist, while Mikee Renzo C. Rato was awarded as the Best Drummer. Lastly, the Best Vocalist award went to Jordan Mari P. Dumaual.

The event was a resounding success, celebrating musical excellence and providing a platform for talented students to shine. As the lights dimmed and the last notes faded, the spirit of innovation and creativity that defines this event remained as strong as ever. The Battle of the Bands 2023 continues to be a driving force that demonstrates the power of music to unite and inspire, leaving a lasting impression on both participants and the audience.
