AVIATORS IN 2023

Aviation Week 2023

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to open the Aviation Week 2022 with Dr. Emelita I. Javier (VP for Student Affairs)

The Aeronautical Engineering Research Organization officially opened their annual event entitled, “Aviation Week 2023” with the theme, “Traversing Dimensions: Illumination of Frontier Aviators.” This event was held at the PATTS Lobby and was graced by the presence of Dr. Emelita I. Javier (VP for Student Affairs) and the organization’s advisers: Engr. Jason M. Advincula, and Engr. Juan Rafael B. Piano.

An inspiring display of PATTsean excellence was executed as students from all courses and year levels battled in different competitions to celebrate this year’s aviation week.  A series of activities was prepared to enable the participants to exhibit their creativity, wit, and skills in four main event categories: ExhiViation, Aviation Race, Minute to Win It: Last Seahorse Standing, and the Blue Point: Quiz Bee.

Quoting the great Albert Einstein, “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge, but imagination.” The ExhiViation event proved how genius PATTSeans are as they compete in the battle of ingenuity by creating artworks representing the Symbol of Dreams and Portraits of Honor. Students also built scaled dioramas for the ATC Towerama contest and invented working rocket models for the Rocket Rangers category.

The week’s exciting events continued as PATTSeans faced the challenge of finishing a time-chase, a race to the finish called the Aviation Race. Scattered around the school are 10 stations full of different mind-boggling challenges made to cultivate students’ critical thinking and analytical skills.  The racers have to finish these challenges within a 10-minute time limit before they can proceed to the next station.  Team Desolo Nation was declared the winner after completing the challenges in all 10 stations with the least amount of time.

To continue the celebration of the Aviation Week, an intense battle of the brains at the Blue Point: Quiz Bee Finals took place. The room was cold but was heated with tension as participants from the Management Programs and Technical Programs contested who was the most intelligent among all. The Quiz Bee contained three (3) rounds, each increasing in levels of difficulty with questions varying from management, accounting and finance, law and economics, and of course math, science, aerodynamics, theory of flight, and etc. One team rose and finessed the quiz bee – team Antrum from BS AMT -  as they achieved first place with the highest point among all participating teams.

The last event gave the participants sixty seconds to beat their opponents - who will win and who shall fall? The competitive spirit was set ablaze as the “Minute to Win It: Last Seahorse Standing” kicked off with seven pairs engaged in five different exhilarating games. Each team conquered their contenders using their skills and wit to take each pair down in every round. As the contest title says, the Seahorses who stood last are from Team Sexbomb, consisting of the duo of Madelene Dawn Suelto and Katherine May Tacna, who matched their wins with great energy and their celebratory bombastic dances. Raffle prizes also await the participants in between segments.  Using the Wheel of Fortune, prizes were drawn where lucky winners won sponsored trips, gadgets and cash prizes.  The event ended with great spirits and good cheers - despite the loss, the defeated teams still rejoiced with good sportsmanship. Truly, the event tested the students' cleverness and time-pressured skills proving the true and proud spirit of the Seahorses.

The students bid goodbye to the joyous week full of fun-filled events as the celebration of Aviation Week 2022 came to an end.  In the closing ceremony, awards were given to those who won.  Jose Carlo Ignacio (AERO Auditor) delivered a short but gracious speech to formally close the ceremony.  This was followed by the exit of colors, and the proud cheer of “ONE TEAM, ONE HEART, ONE PRIDE – AERO!” -- that wraps up the exhilarating Aviation Week 2022!
