ALL RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS

Human Rights Webinar

Article 2, Section 11 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution states that “The state values the dignity of every human person and guarantees full respect for human rights”. With that said, all human rights are definitely protected and shall be respected.

“Poste ni Juan: Equal Job Employment for Filipinos during the COVID-19 Pandemic” is a 3-hour long webinar held live via Google Meet last March 18, 2022. It aims to educate the audience about the emerging injustices and uplift the lives of the marginalized sectors in the country.

The honorable speaker is a lawyer for the Commission on Human Rights - Region III. Atty. Aloi Renz P. Santos did more than simply explain the legislation and provide data on unemployment rates throughout the epidemic; he also offered suggestions on how to better grasp society's gradual changes.

In order to bring a meaningful change to the society, from SOGIE bill, key differences of the Anti-Harassment, and Safe Space Act, he stressed the importance of promoting mutual tolerance and respect regardless of the sexual orientation or gender identity in terms of LGBTQIA+ community. He also suggests conducting dialogues about inequalities that are prevalent in any environment.

The second and last topic discussed the rights of the employees over the amount of work they exert, their wages, and as well as benefits during this pandemic. Atty. Santos discussed different labor codes and the likes. In serving the country, he did not miss to mention our modern-day heroes - the health workers who work point-blank versus the unseen enemy, which is the COVID-19 virus.

Over 95 participants joined and participated in the said webinar
