AEROCON 2022

Utopia: Elevate for a New Hope

They have turned a mere PATTSean dream into a reality. On April 6 to 8, sky-rocketing events gave the AERO Convention 2022 a ride to remember - a festivity with oh-so-worthy fees that made the attendees travel across the galaxy of surprises and adventures.

The 3-day event entitled: “Utopia: Elevate for a New Hope” was organized by the Aeronautical Engineering Research Organization (AERO) and the Basic Engineering Pioneers of Innovative Construction (B-EPIC) to commemorate the Annual International Day of Human Space Flights.

Fueled the Rockets and Ready for Take-off at 10 AM on April 6 via Facebook Live, the event started with an Opening Ceremony graced by their guest speaker, Engr. Brian Jason Isidereo Ochoa, Design Engineer at Collins Aerospace-Interiors. He shared the importance of understanding oneself and conquering challenges saying, “It is only you who could turn strengths to gains.”

Already at the last layer of the atmosphere, the next event was at 1 PM to 3 PM of the same day. The “SOFTW-AIR: The Programming Innovation Behind Aviation” took flight via Zoom Meetings. This was a webinar that tackled the relevance of programming and how it opened possibilities in the aviation industry.

Highly qualified Software Engineer from Germany, Robert Mues-Hane, was the international guest speaker of the webinar. He gave the participants a walk in his expertise about Software Applications in the Flight Deck, Requirements for Windows Software Development, and other essentials about Microsoft Visual Studio 2022– from installation and set-up to launching.

PATTSeans came to a full circle to witness the next event entitled, “RouNDTrip: A Non-Destructive Testing Run-through” on April 7 at 1 PM via Zoom meetings. It was a stirring moment for the students to discover and tackle the procedures, different inspection methods, as well as the changes, opportunities, tips, and challenges in the aviation industry.

Quality Manager in NDTech Aviation Services and Management, Engr. Sanderson Carranza, discussed what Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is all about focusing on the types, inspection aids, stations, and accessories to determine the airworthiness of the aircraft without having to destroy it in the process.

The presentation ended with an inspiring speech from Engr. Carranza, encouraging the students to plan everything at the right time and at the right moment. “Don’t lose track and focus on what you have after college to prepare for your future self to be part of the aviation industry”.

Change’ is the engineers' middle name and as part of the Aviation Fair, they also brought to everyone an event entitled, “A CAD Competition: TECHNNOVATION” on April 7 via Zoom Meetings. This is a competition to unleash innovativeness and teamwork by inventing something that can alleviate aviation problems and uplift technological revolutions.

Winners of the competition received cash prizes. Clenching the grand prize and obi-one standing was Team Bad Masters; followed by “No Team” and “Team Yes” securing 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.

Nothing is impossible for the students who participated in the event entitled, “AERObstacle 2022: Fight for Flight on April 8 at 9 AM, also via Zoom meetings. The goal was to showcase PATTS’ best students’ knowledge, comprehension, and love for the aviation industry.

The contest was conducted with a blazing aura for students to participate in and led to a close call for all the teams as they finally announced the winners - Taho Milktea for 3rd place, Teamalupet for 2nd place, and Ensentibs for 1st place.

“Adventure is worthwhile itself,” said the legendary aviator Amelia Earhart. Bring out the spirit and true potential in you as your journey awaits. Patience and help from people around will guide you to the stepping stone of where you are supposed to be.

The emptiness of space was filled with excitement and knowledge as the students traveled across a galaxy of cognizance during the AEROCON 2022. The Closing Program was held via Facebook Livestream on April 8 along with the announcement of winners from the Virtual Fair.

Inspirational Message by Engr. Paul Daniel Gabato, Top ___ in the recently concluded Aeronautical Engineering Board Exam, was delivered not just by mere motivational words but by stating the facts and the many reasons why we should all keep looking forward to the full comeback of the aviation industry.

AEROCON 2022 was indeed a success, opening new gates for everyone to ponder on. As much as the participants wanted to explore more about the vastness of space, Mr. Pet Israel Gonzales (AERCON 2022 Project Head) officially ended the space journey with his closing remarks thanking everyone for their efforts and participation.
